Over the course of the last month, I have been learning two songs on the ukulele, You Are My Sunshine and Dreams. I started with learning You Are My Sunshine, and while there were some growing pains with practicing transitioning between chords, I think it has gotten smoother and I feel okay about that song. Dreams on the other hand… has been really difficult for me. While it only had two chords to play and switch between, I was really struggling with the long strumming pattern, transitioning between chords, and singing the song. Because of this, I have made the decision to actually switch my second song. I have chosen to instead learn how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, which has 3 chords instead of the 2 from the other song, but they are the same chords I have been practicing with You Are My Sunshine. I’m excited to learn this song instead because I feel I will be able to implement it into a classroom setting, whereas Dreams I could not. It is also really great that Twinkle Twinkle Little Star has the same tune as ABC song, so by learning it, I’m learning two songs in one!
